All the Right Ingredients for National Daiquiri Day

July 19 is National Daiquiri Day in the U.S. Whether you’re poolside, beachside, or celebrating from the comfort of your home, enjoy the day—and a fruity drink—with these four tips.

Set the Scene

Before you can think about kicking back with an iced glass of tropical goodness, you need to prep for a tropical celebration. If you aren’t currently on beach time, make the sound of the waves and the smell of saltwater feel a little closer. Download an app (Try Ocean Wave Sounds for Sleep from the iTunes App Store; we promise you won’t find it to be a snooze) that will give you the background noise of the beach, and add some cut flowers to this mermaid vase to bring a hint of the beach home. And don’t forget the coasters. We love this sea-inspired set.

Gather Your Ingredients

Whether you prefer an old-school shaken daiquiri made with rum, lime juice, and simple syrup or one of the more contemporary (and often more convenient) blended versions, is totally up to you. Whatever you choose, know that you can garnish with fresh fruit (try pineapple or watermelon!) to make it your own.

Strawberry Frozen Daiquiri

INGREDIENTS

2 ounces rum
¾ cup fresh strawberries
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 cup of ice

PREPARATION

Place all ingredients in a blender and pour into tumbler for serving.

Makes one drink.

Bonus: Pour your drink into a Mermaids Club Insulated Tumbler for an ocean-inspired way to keep your beverage cool.

Invite Your Friends

What’s a celebration without a few friends? Don’t fire up the blender by yourself, host a few couples or a group of girlfriends who enjoy the chilled libations as much you do. Whether it’s a formal gathering, complete with invitations and fan fare or a quick call to see who’s in-town and available, make your guests feel welcome with a few snacks to go along with the daiquiris. If you’re struggling with an idea, the Small Bites recipe box has plenty of options for quick and easy dishes that suit any occasion.

Spin. Sip. Repeat.

Put your phone on “Do Not Disturb,” let the blender spin and sit back to soak in the fruity taste of paradise.
